The Life of a Single Mom

I've been a single mom ever since I found out the moment I was pregnant. I wasn't in a relationship with the guy, so I was in this all by myself. It's been tough being both mommy and daddy to my son, but I've managed and it sure takes a kick ass mom to be both. I have a friend that's a single parent as well and she has 5 boys. I seriously don't know how she does it, but me, her and every single parent alike have one thing in common, we're strong. We take pride in being 2 parents in one, we stay strong for our babies, and we protect our babies and will do anything for them and think of them first. I don't know where I would be without him. It's cliche to say, I know. But it's the truth. I tried having an actual relationship with his father, but for personal reasons, it didn't work out and he ended up down his dark path. I don't need him, Donovan sure doesn't need him. It's me and him together against the world. I think just because sometimes you become a single mom, you have to put your dreams on hold. Yes, maybe for a little bit, but you don't have to for the rest of your life. There's this thing called daycare. I know it sucks sometimes being away from your babies, but after always putting your child first, there comes a time when you need to think about yourself and what you want in life. It takes a little bit of time figuring out what you want to be when you grow up. At any age, you're still going to think that. I'm 27 now and Donovan is 3, and I've finally figured some things out and what will be best for both of us.
