As today is the first day that everyone goes back to school, I had asked last week on my personal Facebook what everyone would give for teens going back to school. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior year. So keep on reading for some tips and advice for teens going back to school.
Main Tips/Advice:
Do you and don't care what others say about it.
It's cooler to study and do your work then to be the trouble maker who did the bare minimum. Trust me I was that guy.
Freshman...
~Things seem like they're moving at a snail's pace, but time speeds up. Enjoy these years, and do as many things as possible
~Things will change. Friends u had won't be your friends. You will have drama people will call you names. The best thing to do is to show this does now affect you
Sophomores...
You are a year older and wiser, but be open minded to learning new things. Start preparing for college now. It's not too late to raise your GPA either!
don't think you're high and mighty because you're not a freshman anymore and don't make annoying jokes about freshmen, you were there last year
Juniors...
You've got this year and one more. You are at your prime! Get a job, enjoy every club and sport possible. You should be taking as many ACT, SAT, and PSAT test that you can. The higher your score, the better your chance!
personally this was my fav year all I can say is don't drive drunk and don't fall in love, even the right person will turn on you
And lastly Seniors...
This is hard. You're at the precipice of adulthood, but you're still young enough to enjoy fewer responsibilities. Don't settle for a major just because you think it's what others want for you. Enjoy being with your classmates as much as possible, you never know when you'll never be able to talk to them again. Stay ready for change and out of your comfort zone.
this one is hard for me to share advice because I almost did not graduate senior year because I was so stressed about my mom and cancer. I found out I had zero friends just talk to people here and there and everyone knew who I was and was nice. But I stayed so much to myself so I say to branch out and do something crazy but don't not give up because of all the stress and if you don't want to go to college because you're afraid of going in debt, don't. Wait until you know exactly what to do and do not let adults put you down because your not in college
And my personal advice is this...
Freshman...
Get out there and make new friends. Even though you may have your friends from middle school with you, it won't hurt to branch out and add more friends to your circle. No better way than making friends by joining a club and being a little social.
Sophomores...
You're starting to move up the ladder and you're not the baby anymore, so try to start thinking what you may want to do after high school. You don't have to set anything in stone just yet, so just get some ideas and brainstorm
Juniors...
Now is really the time to start thinking about what you may want to do after High School. Take those tests and study hard. Don't just let things be handed to you easily. You can still have a social life and work hard in school as well.
Seniors...
It's finally you're year! You have molded yourselves into young adults. You should have a pretty good idea what you want to do once you graduate. Again, you can still be social and work hard in school. Some may want to go ahead and get some after school jobs.
Overall, I think no matter what year you're in though, it can still be your year as long as you make things worth it and do the work. Seniors, you all are going to rock the class of 2018, and for all you other kiddos, stay true to yourself and surround yourself in a good circle of friends, and you'll definitely make it through high school for sure.
